Coming back as part of the 40th anniversary –
The Junior Griz Competition!
Just like the Extreme Griz Competition for adults, this is a test of strength, accuracy, imagination, agility, and speed. But, most importantly your ability to have fun.
Who can take part?
The Junior Griz competition is open to 6-12 years old who want an afternoon of fun and games and a chance to be crowned Junior Griz Champion of 2017!
Where is it taking place?
Most of the events will take place on 2nd Ave, between 5th and 6th Street, from 2-4pm on Saturday, although the imagination component can be completed beforehand.
What is involved in this competition?
The competition is made of numerous events which test your imagination, creativity, accuracy, speed, agility and of course your ability to have fun and enjoy yourself.
- Imagination – Draw a picture of what Griz Days in Fernie will look like 40 years from now. Make sure to include Griz in your picture somewhere.
Your picture can be dropped off at the Arts Station prior to Griz Days or during registration from 1pm on the 5th of March. All entries will be showcased at the Arts Station.
- Creativity – Make sure to dress up as Griz for the competition and be ready to show off your best Griz impersonation, noise and all!
- Accuracy, Strength, Agility and Speed – Numerous fun events will take place on 2nd Ave from 2pm on the 5th of March that will test your speed, agility, accuracy and strength.
Each event will be judged and scored and the Junior Griz champion will have excelled in all areas of the competition.
PLEASE NOTE: Each child taking part MUST have a completed waiver form signed by their parent or caregiver prior to taking part in the event.
Timeline of events:
Registration 1-2pm outside BoardStiff, 542 2nd Ave
2:00-3:30pm – Junior Griz competition takes place on 2nd Ave
3:30-3:45pm – Judges Deliberating
3:45pm – Prize giving
5:30pm – Junior Griz competitors are invited to join the Griz Day Parade down 2nd Ave.
